CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - When moms come together, powerful things can happen. A group of south Charlotte moms, connected through an elementary school, is proving that more than ever.
They are answering a call to help immigrant families in their community get necessities, while some continue to be fearful of border patrol operations.
On Monday, the group noticed that 30% of the student body was absent from their kids’ school, and that at least one classroom had only five students. Instead of sitting back and hoping for the best, they got to work, figuring out how they could help.
A food pantry is taking over the bottom level of a brick home in South Charlotte. At 12:30 p.m., there are people swiftly moving from inside to outside with boxes in hand, filled with food and other necessities.
