ELLSWORTH, Maine — The Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center held a Stress Reduction for the Holidays workshop on Friday, offering cancer patients a virtual space to manage the fatigue and pressure that often intensify during this time of year.

The session was led by mindfulness instructor Jen Harry, who says the practices give patients a moment to slow down.

“I’ve seen it give them this pause; they are more able to go with the flow of things happening,” Harry said.

Harry said treatment-related fatigue can make even simple tasks, like cooking and shopping, feel overwhelming. “If you’re dealing with cancer, you have the fatigue, you don’t have the energy levels to do the things that you want to do. It makes it hard to do anything,” she said.
