On its face, it seems like an abuse of resources to have a school district pay the mortgage for a resident through a program designed to help the poor.
That might be why some residents, and even some Schenectady school district staff, were apparently “flabbergasted” to learn that a state grant dedicated to providing “concrete” needs like food and clothing to struggling families in the Schenectady school district would be on someone’s house.
