EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - No. 17 Michigan State men’s basketball welcomed former MSU player and coach Mark Montgomery back to the Breslin Center for the first time since he took the Detroit Mercy head coach position.
Despite Montgomery’s homecoming, the Spartans were able to roll past the Titans with an 84-56 victory on Friday evening.
Jeremy Fears Jr. scored a career-high 18 points with 11 boards to lead MSU on the scoring sheet. Jaxon Kohler and Coen Carr each scored 13 points. Carr also grabbed seven rebounds.
Carson Cooper made all four of his shots from the field and totaled up 12 points and six boards.
Michigan State shot 46% from the field and 30% from beyond the arc in the Spartans’ win. The Spartans also outrebounded the Titans 42-31.
