Four staff members, including the headmistress for Classes IV-X, of Delhi’s St Columba’s School have been suspended after a class 10 student died by suicide earlier this week.
The action came soon after police registered an FIR naming several teachers for alleged mental harassment, a complaint the family claims the child had been raising for months.
The suspension order mentioned a temporary suspension of the headmistress, the coordinator for Classes 9 and 10, and two teachers until the matter is under review.
A senior Delhi Education Department official said that a high-level committee has been asked to examine the incident “comprehensively” and determine whether the school handled earlier complaints appropriately, Moneycontrol reported.
