Knox quarterback Myles McLaughlin came into Friday’s semistate clash with Bishop Luers gaining 10.3 yards per carry.
Against the Knight defensive front, he failed to reach that average on a single one of his 24 rushes.
Luers stifled a rushing attack that had set state and national records all season, holding McLaughlin to 30 yards on 24 carries and ending his quest to become the all-time leading rusher in high school football history.
At the same time, the Knights got powerful performances from sophomores TJ Epperson and Brandon Gaither, who combined for five touchdowns and 246 rushing yards on the way to a 35-0 victory and a spot in the Class 3A state championship game.
