To mark the Women’s Fund of Greater Fort Wayne’s five-year anniversary, the Community Foundation asked Purdue University Fort Wayne’s Community Research Institute to update its 2020 report on the status of local women and girls.
The 2025 update centered on the fund’s three priorities: economic security, personal safety, and young women and girls. CRI analyzed U.S. Census Bureau data from 2009 to 2023 to track earnings, income and labor force participation, but because those numbers explain the “what,” not the “why,” CRI partnered with SurveyUSA to survey Allen County women about workplace experiences, sexual assault, harassment and domestic violence.
For insights on young women and girls, CRI also ran an online survey targeting parents, caregivers and women ages 18 to 22.
