The smoke surrounding a potential departure for Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin has started to increase, and now, on Friday night, one of the most damning reports of all is coming out.

According to Yahoo! Sports' Ross Dellinger, the LSU Tigers are finalizing an offer to Kiffin that is worth $90 million, preparing to try and make the Rebels' head coach their next program leader after parting ways with Brian Kelly earlier this season.

Dellinger also reports that the Tigers are prepared to commit $25 million for the roster each season, helping LSU compete in the NIL world with both the transfer portal and high school recruiting.

"In Baton Rouge, key LSU decision-makers are gearing up for a formal offer to the coach and his representatives," Dellinger writes. "While specific details of the contract remain fluid, sources told Yahoo Sports that school executives have discussed a seven-year, incentive-laden deal worth at least $90 million — figures that would make Kiffin, at the very least, tied for the highest-paid coach in the sport. The school is, as well, promising significant NIL-related roster investments exceeding $25 million — perhaps the most important determining factor for the coach.

Earlier on Friday, Kiffin and Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter had a meeting about the coach's future, and there is now a timeline for when he will make his decision.

Carter took to social media on Friday afternoon to release a statement about the meeting, saying that an announcement on Kiffin's future is expected Saturday following the Egg Bowl against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

"Coach Kiffin and I have had many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss, including meeting today with Chancellor Boyce," Carter wrote. "While we discuss next steps, we know we cannot lose sight of what is most important – our sixth-ranked team that is poised to finish the regular season in historic fashion. Despite the outside noise, Coach Kiffin is focused on preparing our team for the Egg Bowl, and together, we want to ensure that our players and coaches can concentrate fully on next Friday’s game. This team is on the cusp of an unprecedented season, and it’s imperative they feel the support of the Ole Miss family in the week ahead. An announcement on Coach Kiffin’s future is expected the Saturday following the game.”

Whether this relationship makes it that long is the biggest question at this point.
