CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Friends from Cary and Holly Springs came together to raise money for the 20-year-old who was hit in a fatal Holly Springs crash last month.
The music coming out of the Mac's Tavern was all for Brandon Russell who is still healing from his injuries from such a horrific night that changed his life forever.
"Anything can be overcome with a bigger community," said Mark Richie.
Police say Russell was injured in a head-on-collision early in the morning of October 26. The community was shocked.
"Always heartbreaking for the ones that are the innocent ones. You know, they weren't expecting that to happen that day," said Sue Tompkins.
The suspect, 16-year-old Ashton Rahlfs , is also accused of striking and killing 14-year-old Max Dunham--- who was riding his bike. R
