(KRON) – The San Francisco 49ers and star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk could soon be parting ways.

The 49ers placed Aiyuk placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list in July while recovering from a season-ending ACL and MCL tear he sustained last season.

According to The Athletic, the 49ers have grown “increasingly frustrated” with Aiyuk’s lack of communication and participation in team activities during his recovery. The 49ers voided the guaranteed money in Aiyuk’s contract for 2026, alleging that his absences qualify as a failure to fulfill his contract.
