One killed after tree fell on their vehicle in L.A. area

WINNETKA – One person was killed when a tree fell onto two vehicles Friday in Winnetka.

Firefighters responded around 3:30 p.m. to the 7300 block of North Mason Avenue, where the large tree had fallen onto the roadway and on top of two vehicles, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A person in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. No details about that person’s age or gender were immediately available.

Details about how the tree toppled over remain under investigation, but the recent series of rainstorms has led to various reports of trees falling in the area.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
