DULUTH — A brilliant 50-save performance by Minnesota Duluth goaltender Ève Gascon kept the Bulldogs within striking distance late in their WCHA matchup against third-ranked Ohio State on Friday at Amsoil Arena.

The effort by Gascon, which matched a season-high in stops, was not enough for the No. 5 Bulldogs to take down the red-hot Buckeyes, who skated away with their seventh-straight win, 3-1.

“(It was a) hard-fought game tonight,” said UMD head coach Laura Schuler. “I thought our second and third periods were really, really good, and we just have to make sure we come out like that from the get-go… I think we do that, it’s a different outcome.”
