MERRILLVILLE/FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WNDU) - Three Michiana-area high school football teams took the field on Friday night looking to punch their tickets to the state finals in Indianapolis next weekend.
Unfortunately, all three of them saw their remarkable seasons come to an end, as Concord (Class 5A), South Bend Saint Joseph (Class 4A) and Knox (Class 3A) lost their semi-state championship matchups.
Concord falls at Merrillville
After pulling off an incredible rally to win regionals last Friday, Concord was unable to find that same magic against Merrillville, falling to the Pirates 41-14.
The Minutemen (11-2) led 7-0 after the first quarter, but the Pirates (11-2) jumped out to a 20-7 halftime lead after Concord turned the ball over three times in the second quarter.
