HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Sandy Creek Cougars are 48 minutes away from making history again as they prepare to defend their first state championship in school history.
The Cougars, who have emerged as a power in 8-man football over the past four seasons under head coach Andrew Kuta, will face the fifth-seeded Crofton Warriors for the state title Monday at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 10:15 a.m.
Last year, Sandy Creek won their first state championship in school history. Now they have the chance to join an elite group of back-to-back state champions.
“We knew coming into the season that there were a lot of questions,” Kuta said. “We felt confident in the group that we had and that they would show a lot of growth throughout the season. And that’s really exactly what they’ve done
