Bhubaneswar: A former senior clerk of Hindol sub-treasury in Dhenkanal district has been arrested by Odisha Vigilance for alleged misappropriation of government funds to the tune of Rs 68.85 lakh.
The accused, identified as Manoranjan Sahoo, had been on the run for the last two years to evade Vigilance action. ADVERTISEMENT
As per Vigilance, the accused had misappropriated Rs 68,85,497/- through fraudulent drawl of government funds, originally intended for family pension holders.
Sahoo did not credit the funds to the pensioners’ accounts but systematically credited the misappropriated amount to his own bank account and the bank accounts of his relatives.
