Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Manoranjan Sahoo, a former Senior Clerk of the Hindol Sub-Treasury in Dhenkanal district, for allegedly misappropriating government funds amounting to Rs 68.85 lakh, officials said on Saturday.
According to an official press release, Sahoo had been absconding for the past two years to evade Vigilance action. He allegedly fraudulently withdrew government funds meant for family pension beneficiaries and diverted the money to his own bank account and to the bank accounts of his relatives. The total amount misappropriated stands at Rs 68,85,497.
Following the detection of the alleged fraud, a case was registered at Cuttack Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 32/2024) under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
