Bhubaneswar : A low-pressure area is expected to form over the South Andaman Sea within the next 24 hours, intensifying into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal by November 24, according to the India Meteorological Department.

Taking to his X handle, weather scientist Uma Shankar Das informed, “A cyclonic circulation over the Malacca sea Strait persists, extending up to 5.8 km above sea level. This is likely to lead to the formation of a low-pressure area over the South Andaman Sea within the next 24 hours. It is expected to intensify into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal by November 24, moving west-northwest. Further intensification is possible over the southwest Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours.”
