BASEHOR, Kan. —

A Leavenworth County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a shooting with a suspect Friday night near 156th Street and Parallel Road in Basehor.

The suspect was taken into custody, and no injuries were reported, according to the Basehor Police Department. Advertisement

Officers from Basehor and deputies from Leavenworth County responded to the scene and asked the public to avoid the area while the investigation continues.

The situation unfolded near the high school, where a sub-state football playoff game was being played.

However, the school district said the incident had no connection to the game or school.

Fans who attended the game were encouraged to stay in the stadium for a handful of minutes after it happened.
