At least five people have died in the last 24 hours following series of fatal crashes across multiple states.

In New South Wales, a 57-year-old woman died following a single-vehicle crash in the state's west.

About 5pm on Friday, emergency services received reports of a white Nissan sedan leaving the road before it crashed into bushland.

The woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but died at the scene.

Officers established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the crash while a report is being prepared for the Coroner.

Another person was killed when a trailer detached and smashed into his vehicle.

On Friday, emergency crews were called to Newell Highway at Tomingley, about 50 kilometres south-west of Dubbo.
