Australia has welcomed the third-highest ranking person in the Chinese government.
Mr Zhao Leji, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, has touched down in the country for a four-day visit.
Mr Leji arrived in Brisbane on Saturday afternoon, meeting with Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives Milton Dick on the tarmac.
Photos have captured a group of supporters who eagerly awaited Mr Leji’s arrival.
The Chinese politician is set to explore Brisbane and Canberra as a Guest of the Australian Parliament over the four day trip.
His visit will include engagements reflecting the importance of parliamentary exchanges in strengthening dialogue and deepening people-to-people links between Australia and China, according to the Federal Gover
