Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the Indian community in South Africa during his visit and highlighted cultural ties as well as shared traditions.
During the event, the Chinmaya Mission presented him with a Kalash containing Shree Anna (millets) sourced from both India and South Africa. He announced that the Kalash will be placed at the Annapoorna Devi Temple in Durban, thereby symbolising unity and sustainability.
Following the ceremonial gesture, PM Modi urged the diaspora to boost the popularity of Indian culture in South Africa. He emphasised the importance of promoting practices such as Yoga and Ayurveda, which he described as India’s timeless contributions to global well-being.
