UPLAND — For the first time since 1991, the Baldwin Park football team will play for the CIF Southern Section championship after knocking off undefeated Western Christian, 27-14, in Friday’s Division 11 semifinals.

Baldwin Park (8-5) will travel to Valley View of Moreno Valley, which knocked off San Dimas, 28-21 , in next week’s title game on either Friday or Saturday.

“Proud of the boys [and] my coaches for their resiliency,” Baldwin Park second-year coach Robert Maxie said. “It’s a tough staff, some tough kid, these kids deserve it. I’m just happy to lead these kids to where they are headed right now.”
