Bhubaneswar: An SSB jawan was arrested by the police in Bhubaneswar for allegedly duping a retired police officer of Rs 40 lakh by promising to arrange a piece of land for him.

The accused, identified as Sachitra Senapati, was arrested by Sahid Nagar Police on Friday based on +a complaint filed by retired police officer Surendra Chandra Bahubalendra. Sachitra had promised him land near Trisulia. ADVERTISEMENT

After preliminary probe, police arrested the jawan, who hails from Dhuleswar in Bayalish Mouza area of Cuttack district, and produced him before the court. The accused was earlier deployed on duty at Naveen Niwas during the BJD-led government.

It was found that during his long tenure there, the accused allegedly cheated several people by posing as someone capable of arranging land
