CORONA — The Centennial football program is ready to party like its 2014 and 2015.

Dominick Catalano tossed a 24-yard touchdown pass to Keawe Browne with 1:35 remaining on the clock, and Miles Schirmer blocked a field goal in the closing seconds as the Huskies pulled out a 28-27 win over two-time defending champion Mater Dei in a CIF Southern Section Division 1 semifinal game.

Friday night’s victory sends Centennial to the section finals for the first time since winning back-to-back Pac-5 Division championships in 2014 and 2015.

The Huskies will look to avenge their only loss of the season when they face Santa Margarita for the title Friday, Nov. 28, at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

“It’s been 10 years since we’ve been here, but it feels like a lot longer,” Centennial coach Matt Logan sai
