As Bihar prepares for its newly elected 243 legislators, public curiosity has once again turned towards how much an MLA earns and the benefits attached to the post.

Bihar continues to stand among the top states in the country when it comes to legislative salaries, ranking jointly with Karnataka in the fifth position, as per Navbharat Times (NBT).

In the new Assembly term beginning this month, first-time legislators, many of whom have entered the House with promises of development and regional upliftment, will draw a structured salary package backed by multiple allowances.

The basic monthly salary of a Bihar MLA is ₹50,000, complemented by a constituency allowance of ₹55,000, a personal assistant allowance of ₹40,000, and a stationery allowance of ₹15,000, as per NBT.
