RAVENNA, Ohio — Early in the second quarter Friday night at Ravenna High School’s Portage Community Bank Stadium, Perry sophomore Traxton Richards found an opening on a kickoff return.

His 94-yard touchdown gave the Pirates hope after Glenville twice marched downfield to score. That hope quickly washed away against the Tarblooders’ defense on a rainy night for an OHSAA Division IV regional championship.

A year ago, Glenville beat the Pirates in overtime. This time, the Tarblooders left no doubt with their 35-7 victory.

“Our mindsets were different from last year,” senior linebacker Cincere Johnson said. “We knew they were going to come out and try to beat us on the around-the-edge stuff, so we just came and dominated. Kill the hope.”
