SUMNER, Iowa - An ATV crash in Fayette County took the life of one person Friday.

The Iowa State Patrol says Veryl Alfred Burghardt, 84 of Fayette, was riding a 2005 Arctic Cat 4-wheeler west on 160th Street when he went into the north ditch and crashed around 4:11 pm. The crash report says it happened in the 19000 block of 160th Street, between Sumner and Fayette.

Burghardt was taken by Sumner Ambulance to Community Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office and Sumner Fire Department assisted at the scene.
