MINNEAPOLIS, MN - It was a season to remember for the Moorhead Spuds, but an ending they’d like to forget, losing in the state championship game 42-35 to Edina.
"I don't know what the outside world, or the noise was, as far as where we belong. But I know the guys within our locker room truly believe we were where we should be. We came here with a plan and unfortunately we weren't able to make enough plays when we needed them," said head coach Kevin Feeney.
The Spuds opened the game with two scoring drives of 17 plays each and held a 15-13 lead.
After falling behind, the Spuds clawed back and claimed a 28-27 lead in the 4th quarter.
But Edina’s offense was simply too much to handle. Behind 6 touchdowns from Chase Bjorgaard, the Hornets scored on nearly every possession.
