AUSTIN, Texas -- Nearly 56 years after "The Big Shootout" between top-ranked Texas and No. 2 Arkansas, that classic game is back on the front burner.

The 1969 matchup, cleverly moved from earlier in the season to Dec. 6 by Beano Cook of ABC Sports, attracted sitting President Richard Nixon and a massive television audience and was alternatively called "The Game of the Century."

Current interim Arkansas Coach Bobby Petrino was briefed on the history of that game -- a 15-14 win for the eventual national champion Longhorns -- by a participant in it, Razorbacks quarterback Bill Montgomery, during rounds of golf while in his first stint with the Razorbacks in 2008-11.

Montgomery was still aching after all those years, Petrino said during Wednesday's "Razorback Football Live" radio show.
