Dozens of children in the UK will be administered puberty blockers on the NHS in the UK from early 2026. A clinical trial examining the effects of these drugs is set to commence, with recruitment for the first patients expected to begin in the new year - although it will not be available in Scotland. ‌

King's College London researchers are optimistic that over 200 children could participate in the study, with results anticipated in approximately four years. Some participants may continue taking the medication beyond the trial if it is deemed "clinically appropriate". ‌
