The Kaibab National Forest will continue to conduct pile burns in the Williams and Tusayan ranger districts through the coming months, despite the wintry conditions that arrived in northern Arizona this week.
During thinning operations or timber harvesting projects, crews sometimes create piles of branches and other woody debris known as slash. These piles can be burned when conditions are favorable to reduce the overall load of flammable fuels in an area. Copy article link Sign up for our newsletters
