A pair of Big 12 schools in the state of Texas vie for conference positioning on Saturday afternoon.

The Houston Cougars (8-2, 5-2 Big 12) have been one of the most surprising teams in college football this season in Willie Fritz's second season, and they have at least a marginal path to the Big 12 title game. Now, they play host to a TCU (6-4, 3-4 Big 12) squad that has been a bit of a disappointment but could still salvage a solid season.

The Horned Frogs are just a few years removed from a national title appearance, but unrest is growing as they have lost two in a row and three of their last five.

If you are looking for some betting advice for the matchup, we've got you covered. Here are the latest odds for the game, courtesy of BetMGM.

Houston vs. TCU game odds:

Houston vs. TCU prediction, pick:

Houston has had some difficulties on offense this season, particularly when it comes to running the ball efficiently with Dean Connors (who has still been productive), but the defense has been the saving grace under first-year coordinator Austin Armstrong. The Cougars do a good job defending the pass, which makes for an interesting matchup here

TCU is certainly looking to air the ball out, though this offense hasn't had much beyond the connection between Josh Hoover and star receiver Eric McAlister, who has 941 yards and eight receiving touchdowns this season. Its defense is also one of the best in the nation at taking away the run.

This may come down to quarterback play in a game with essentially even odds, and I have more faith in Hoover than Conner Weigman here.

Prediction: TCU 31, Houston 27

Best Bet: TCU money line, Over 55.5
