The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold a selection meeting on Sunday, November 23 in Mumbai to pick India’s white-ball squads for the South Africa series. Sources told India Today that KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are the frontrunners to lead the side, indicating that Rohit Sharma is unlikely to return as captain.

Pant has been in good form in T20Is since his comeback, but his limited recent ODI game time may factor into the selectors’ decision. Pant last played an ODI back in August 2024 against Sri Lanka at the RPS Stadium in Colombo.
