Politics heats up in Maharashtra over deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s statement during Malgaon panchayat election campaign. Addressing a rally, Pawar reportedly told voters, “If you have the vote, I have the funds.” The opposition has raised the issue with the Election Commission.
Pawar said that if voters elect his party’s candidates, there would be no shortage of funds for the town, but if they reject them, they would be rejected too. “You have the vote, I have the funds,” he said.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar was campaigning on Friday in Baramati tehsil for the Malgaon municipal panchayat elections. Pawar also serves as Maharashtra’s finance minister in the BJP–NCP–Shiv Sena government.
The opposition has strongly reacted to these remarks.
