In view of rising pollution in Delhi-NCR, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has made the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) stricter. Now, several major measures will be implemented right from the beginning so that the situation can be controlled before the air quality worsens.
On Saturday morning, the average AQI of Delhi-NCR was 360, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category. CAQM said that the new measures have been decided on the basis of scientific data, expert opinion, and past experience. All agencies have been instructed to implement them immediately.
Now, the rules that were earlier enforced under GRAP-2 will be applied under GRAP-1 itself. Several GRAP-3 rules will now move to GRAP-2, and GRAP-4 rules will shift to GRAP-3. GRAP-4 also includes a provision for givin
