LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Seven Laredo Independent School District elementary schools made it to the top of state rankings given by Children at Risk, a research and advocacy nonprofit group.

Heights Elementary School was ranked number one in the State of Texas. Francisco Farias Elementary School made it to the Top Five Rio Grande Valley Elementary Schools and Top Rio Grande Gold Ribbon Elementary Schools.

Six LISD elementary schools made it to the Top 10 Texas Gold Ribbon Elementary Schools.

The LISD schools and their ranking by Children at Risk are:

John Z. Leyendecker Elementary School - 3

Leon Daiches Elementary School - 4
