RUSK, Texas (KLTV) - For the first time in school history, the Edgewood Bulldogs are going to the third round of the high school playoffs.

The Woodville Eagles and the Edgewood Bulldogs squared off at Eagle Stadium in Rusk Friday night in the area round of the playoffs.

Behind 372 yards of offense and five touchdowns by quarterback Trevor Golightly, a 21-yard field goal and a pick-six, Edgewood got the 59-56 win to punch their ticket to the regional semifinals.

Golightly was 12-of-19 passing for 275 yards and two touchdowns, while carrying the ball 23 times for 97 yards and scoring three times. Leading the way on the ground was running back Lucas Pippin.
