India’s Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on Friday published a discussion paper outlining proposed methodological improvements to the country’s national accounts as it works to revise the GDP base year to 2022/23.

The new series, a key statistical update used to capture structural changes in the economy, will be released on Feb 27, 2026.

The revision is being steered by the Advisory Committee on National Account Statistics (ACNAS), chaired by economist B.N. Goldar. The panel includes senior officials from central ministries, state governments, academic institutions and research bodies, and has been tasked with recommending new data sources and refining compilation methods for national accounts used in policy formulation and economic analysis.
