Beto Ydrach hit the clinching penalty kick to send Riverhounds SC to the first USL Championship match in franchise history.
It was only fitting he also scored the one that gave the team its first championship.
Ydrach drilled a shot past FC Tulsa goalkeeper Tyler Deric at the start of the final round of penalties as the Eastern Conference champion Riverhounds outlasted Western Conference champion FC Tulsa in a 0-0 (5-3) victory in penalty kicks Saturday at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.
Though Ydrach scored the clincher, it was Riverhounds goalkeeper Eric Dick who made the clincher possible — a fitting scenario, given neither team gave up a goal in any of their four postseason matches.
