PROVIDENCE, R.I. (CNN) – Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents mistakenly detained a teenager who is an intern at the Superior Court in Providence, Rhode Island.
Thursday’s situation was caught on video outside the courthouse.
The video shows ICE agents detaining the 16-year-old intern.
The agents took him out of a vehicle that was being driven by Superior Court Associate Justice Joseph McBurney, who was taking the teen to school.
The agents allegedly ignored the teen, who insisted they were detaining the wrong person.
Agents restrained the teen’s hands behind his back and took him across the street.
He was eventually released after his identity was verified.
A federal spokesperson said ICE was looking for a child predator and briefly questioned someone who resembled the targ
