WASHINGTON — Two University of Alabama at Birmingham football players were hospitalized Saturday after a stabbing at the team’s Football Operations Center, the school said.
UAB told ESPN that both players are in stable condition after the morning incident. “Our thoughts are with them and their families as they recover,” the university said, adding that the suspect, who is another player, is in custody and an investigation is underway.
In a separate statement to AL.com, UAB Police and Public Safety said the injuries are believed to be non–life-threatening and that there is “no threat to campus.” Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service told the outlet two people were transported to UAB Hospital.
