SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - As more and more Division I college basketball games tip off in Sioux Falls, Sanford Health is using the opportunity to give a Harrisburg boy the experience of a lifetime.
Jared Grinde is a positive and curious eight-year-old boy who loves basketball. When you meet him, it’s hard to believe all that he went through at such a young age.
“Jared was diagnosed three years ago with [B-cell lymphoblastic] lymphoma,” explained Jared’s mom, Jacquie Grinde. “Cancer is no word you ever want to hear that your child has.”
Jared battled cancer head-on and took it like a champ. He was proud to ring the bell in May, signifying he was finally cancer-free after three years of treatment. He was just as excited to get his port taken out this week.
