William & Mary closed its football season with a 28–21 loss to Richmond in the Capital Cup on Saturday at Zable Stadium, ending the year at 7–5. The deciding moment came in the final two minutes, when Richmond quarterback Ashten Snelsire broke through the defense on a 14-yard run to put the Spiders ahead for good.

The Tribe still had a chance to respond, but the offense stalled on its last drive and turned the ball over on downs, ending hopes of extending the rivalry showdown into overtime. The loss halted William & Mary’s three-game winning streak and marked its first home defeat of the season after posting a strong 5–1 record at Zable.
