A Queensland family has been left “shattered” after the shock deaths of a young mother and daughter in a crash that also left the child’s father fighting for life in hospital.
Emergency services were called to the Bruce Hwy at Canoona, north of Rockhampton , on Thursday after reports two trucks had collided just before 11pm.
Kiarra, 21, and her two-year-old daughter Aleyna were passengers in one of the trucks and suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, both the mother and child were declared dead at the scene.
Kiarra’s partner and father to Aleyna, Brodie, 24, was ejected from his truck on impact, leaving him with multiple life-threatening injuries and burns.
He was airlifted in a critical condition to a hospital in Brisban
