Following his first career start, on Nov. 8 at West Virginia, Colorado freshman quarterback JuJu Lewis made it clear he wasn’t contemplating a redshirt year.
“Oh yeah, I want to play football,” he said then.
On Saturday night, Lewis had a different tone, leaving the door open to taking a redshirt. The former five-star recruit has played in four games – the maximum allowed for taking a redshirt year. If he plays in CU’s finale on Saturday at Kansas State, he’ll burn the redshirt. If he sits, he’ll still have four more seasons of eligibility.
“Honestly, I mean, I don’t know,” Lewis said after CU’s 42-17 loss to Arizona State at Folsom Field. “There’s a lot more into it than just me with the red shirt situation, but I don’t really have any information on that.”
