Roseville Police Chief Mitchell Berlin plans on suing the city after being denied a request seeking more information on a purported internal investigation involving the department.
Berlin sought details of the probe in a Freedom of Information request, but City Clerk Jennifer Zelmanski rejected the request. The chief appealed the denial to the Roseville City Council, which upheld the clerk’s determination.
At issue is a report compiled by City Manager Ryan Monroe involving compensatory time used by Berlin, Officer Edward Kleinedler, and recently retired Deputy Chief Robert Gudenau, according to the FOIA inquiry.
Berlin asked for any complaints filed concerning the three as well as phone recordings between Monroe and outside laws enforcement
