HAMPTON, Va. — Hampton University has announced a sudden shift in leadership for its football program, relieving Head Coach Trent Boykin of his duties effective immediately.
The decision was confirmed by Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Anthony D. Henderson, Sr., who emphasized the difficulty of making such a change but reaffirmed the university’s commitment to excellence.
“It is always difficult to make changes, particularly when it involves dedicated professionals and student-athletes,” Henderson said in a statement.
“Our commitment remains unwavering to ensuring Hampton football achieves the highest standards of excellence on and off the field. We want to thank Coach Boykin for his dedication and leadership and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
