An increasing number of physical attacks on traffic wardens in Ipswich has been labelled as "concerning" by the council.
A Freedom of Information (FOI) request sent to Ipswich Borough Council discovered that 12 physical attacks on traffic wardens have taken place in the last five years.
However, six of the 12 attacks took place between April 2024 and March 2025 which resulted in lasting damage for the officers.
Councillor Jane Riley, Ipswich Borough Council’s portfolio holder for culture and customers, said: “It is concerning that there is an upward trend in incidents against our civil enforcement officers (CEOs) in 2024/25, we take the welfare of our staff extremely seriously.
"Ipswich Borough Council maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of abuse directed at its staff. Al
