DICKSON CITY, Pa. — A Lackawanna County man struck and killed by car Saturday evening while walking along a busy road in Dickson City was identified Sunday as 60-year-old Stanley Gorczyk, Coroner Tim Rowland said.
Gorczyk, of Dickson City, died of multiple traumatic injuries he suffered when a vehicle hit him as he walked along business Route 6 near the Circle Drive-In, Rowland said. A 911 call was first placed reporting the crash at 5:46 p.m. Chief Deputy Coroner Jesse VanDeusen pronounced Gorczyk dead at the scene.
The highway's westbound lanes shut down for roughly three hours as police from Dickson City worked alongside state troopers to investigate.
The police have not disclosed more information about the crash but the coroner ruled Gorczyk's death as accidental.
