Check out the players who stepped up and defined the NJSIAA Group 3 championship game this fall.
Most Valuable Player
Alex Donoghue, Chatham, Sr.
Donoghue scored the golden goal for Chatham in the second overtime to give the Cougars a dramatic 3-2 win over Shawnee to win the Group 3 state title. This was Chatham’s fourth state title in program history and second in the last three seasons. She perfectly ran onto a corner kick off the foot of Lucy Arps to give the Chatham program it will never soon forget. Donoghue ran onto the corner kick near the back post and actually did not get a head or a foot on it. She jumped up and the ball deflected off near her waist and into the back of the net. The senior also had an assist on Chatham’s first goal of the game off a terrific touch pass to Arps
